Cait Conley Added to DCCC’s Coveted ‘Red to Blue’ Program

Conley will flip NY-17 blue and help take back the House majority

Today, the DCCC announced that Cait Conley has been added to the committee’s highly competitive ‘Red to Blue’ program, signaling that the DCCC is invested in providing Conley, a top-tier candidate, with the support needed to continue building a winning campaign as she runs for New York’s 17th Congressional District.

“Cait Conley is a decorated combat veteran and national security expert who has spent her career putting country over politics. A career political operative and corporate lobbyist, Mike Lawler has done the exact opposite – rubberstamping Donald Trump’s toxic agenda and lying to voters at every turn while Hudson Valley families get priced out and left behind. Cait is the fighter NY-17 deserves, and she’s ready to flip this seat and deliver for the Hudson Valley,” said DCCC Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene.

A fourth-generation Hudson Valley native from a working-class family, Cait Conley started her application to West Point the day after seeing the Twin Towers fall on 9/11. The first in her family to graduate from college, Cait started her career as a military police officer. She served for 16 years as a decorated Army officer, including in special operations leadership, deploying to combat zones like Iraq and Afghanistan six times and earning three Bronze Stars. She continued her service as the Director for Counterterrorism at the White House and at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, defending American families, our critical infrastructure, and the integrity of our elections. Now Cait is answering the call to serve once again because Hudson Valley families are getting priced out and left behind as Mike Lawler puts Donald Trump’s corrupt, extreme agenda over the people he promised to represent. In one of the only Republican-held seats Vice President Kamala Harris won in 2024, Cait is a battle-tested fighter ready to deliver real results for NY-17 on day one.

Rated a true toss-up by nonpartisan race raters, NY-17 is one of just three districts nationwide that split its ticket for Vice President Kamala Harris and a Republican in 2024, and recent polling shows Conley ahead of Lawler and outperforming the generic Democrat.

Red to Blue is a highly competitive and battle-tested DCCC program that arms top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue building winning campaigns. Additionally, through Red to Blue the DCCC provides strategic guidance, staff resources, candidate trainings, fundraising support, and more.
