In tonight’s debate for Michigan’s 8th Congressional District, Paul Junge couldn’t hide the fact that he is a California carpetbagger and trust fund baby with an extreme agenda that Michiganders have already rejected twice.
As a reminder, Junge:
-
Has described himself as pro-life “at all times” and ran his first campaign pledging to oppose abortion rights.
-
Said that Roe created “made up rights” and said he would “celebrate the opportunity” to restrict women’s reproductive freedoms.
-
Pledged his loyalty to extremist Republican leadership and their dangerous Project 2025 agenda.
-
Admitted that he would rather be a perennial loser than get a real job.
-
Made it crystal clear that he supports a plan that would force deep cuts to Social Security and Medicare.
-
Doesn’t even live in the district and only moved back to Michigan to run for office.
Meanwhile, Kristen McDonald Rivet laid out a clear contrast with her opponent on their backgrounds, protecting abortion rights, and her plans to improve the lives of working class Michigan families.
DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“Kristen McDonald Rivet is the only candidate in this race who understands mid-Michigan values and what it means to fight for middle-class families. The debate tonight cemented what Michigan voters have been saying for years: Paul Junge is an out-of-touch, far-right, anti-abortion extremist who should move back to California and stop trying to buy a seat in Michigan.” |
