California Republican Congressional Candidates Should Clarify Their Stance on Mueller Firing

IRVINE – Congressman Darrell Issa may be running away from a sure loss this fall in California’s 49th Congressional District, but that hasn’t stopped him from backing up President Trump’s attempts to terminate the Mueller investigation because it is ‘distracting’ the President. Kevin McCarthy doubled down this weekend, saying that there is ‘no need’ for Congress to protect the independence of the Mueller investigation. Darrell Issa may have realized that he doesn’t stand a chance in this district, but California voters deserve to know where the remaining Republican congressional candidates stand on this issue.

“The American people deserve the full truth about any potential wrongdoing by the Trump campaign leading up to the 2016 election,” said Drew Godinich, DCCC spokesperson. “Following Congressman Darrell Issa’s and Kevin McCarthy’s disturbing remarks, each and every California Republican congressional candidate should make clear whether they believe in holding President Trump accountable.”
