As families in Alabama are coping with the painful blow to reproductive care from the state Supreme Court’s latest ruling, Republican Kevin Kiley has kept quiet on his own extreme voting record.
It’s no wonder why. In the California State Legislature, Kiley opposed a bill to enshrine the right to abortion and contraception in the state constitution. Most recently, Kiley and House Republicans passed two anti-choice bills that would use federal funds to spread misinformation and prevent vulnerable communities from seeking essential reproductive care.
With the Life at Conception Act, House Republicans are on a mission to impose similar restrictions on IVF and fertility treatments as the Alabama Supreme Court ruling – and ban abortion nationwide without exceptions in cases of rape or incest.
Californians deserve to know: why is Kiley silent on efforts to outlaw fertility care like IVF?
DCCC Spokesperson Dan Gottlieb:
“The Alabama Supreme Court decision threatening IVF is the latest effort by extremists to chip away at women’s constitutional freedoms and deny them access to essential reproductive care. Time and again, Kevin Kiley refuses to protect the freedoms of California women, no matter how aggressive the attacks – and voters will hold him accountable for it this November.” |
