MI-07 GOP candidate Tom Barrett is getting called out today for spreading misinformation and “wrongly suggest[ing]” that taxpayer money is going to crack pipes.
But Barrett’s absurd lie didn’t get him very far. After the Washington Post, the Associated Press and others fact-checked these false GOP claims, reporters were quick to highlight Barrett’s eagerness to spread misinformation.
This isn’t Barrett’s first time lying to mid-Michiganders, and judging by his record it won’t be the last. Barrett previously pushed the “Big Lie” that the 2020 election was stolen and peddled baseless conspiracies of election fraud.
“There are nine months until election day and already Tom Barrett is getting called out for lying to Michiganders to score cheap political points,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Michiganders want a straight shooter representing them in Congress – someone they know will be honest with them. The election is almost a year away but Barrett is already showing he doesn’t have the judgment or character to fit the bill.” |
