CALLED OUT: Esther Joy King Accepts Campaign Cash from GOP Candidate Accused of Voter Fraud

Esther Joy King’s hypocrisy on election integrity comes into focus as she takes $2,900 donation from a Republican candidate facing charges of voter fraud

In case you missed it: GOP candidate Esther Joy King was called out in a new report for her hypocrisy on election integrity. King accepted nearly $3,000 from fellow NRCC-backed congressional candidate Matt Mowers, who admitted to voting in two states during the 2016 Republican presidential primary. The double-vote may have been a violation of federal election law and has received widespread backlash.

King’s refusal to return Mowers’ money is egregious coming from a candidate who refused to concede her 2020 election loss because of baseless, self-declared “anomalies,” as the American Independent reported:

“King, who lost a 2020 bid for Congress in the 17th District by 4 points and refused to concede for weeks citing “unexplained anomalies,” has said that if elected, she will work to change election practices.

“It’s heartbreaking to think that even one American thinks their vote doesn’t matter because of something that happened illegally or even just mistakes made in the election process,” King told a local media outlet in September when discussing her second attempt to win this seat. “We need to have voter IDs in our voting process. That’s supported by an overwhelming amount of Americans.”

Will Esther Joy King return double-voting Mowers’ money or will she stand by her hypocrisy on one of the cornerstones of her campaign?

DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn
“Esther Joy King was willing to cry false claims of voter fraud when she thought it might benefit her own election, but now that there is proof of it happening in her party, she looks the other way. It’s clear King’s silence can be bought for $2900.”
