Calvert Opposes Lower Drug Prices for Californians

Calvert puts politics ahead of lower costs for seniors

Despite Ken Calvert and House Republicans opposing the Inflation Reduction Act, the Biden administration just announced the first set of ten prescription drugs that will be subject to new price negotiations, reducing the cost of many of Medicare’s most expensive medicines.

Drugs to fight cancer, diabetes, and heart disease will be more affordable for everyday Americans – despite Calvert’s repeated opposition to these cost-cutting measures for Californians.

The legislation Calvert voted against also caps out-of-pocket prescription drug costs under Medicare to $2,000 per year—including capping the cost of insulin to $35/month.

DCCC Spokesperson Dan Gottlieb:
“Today is another reminder that Extreme MAGA Republicans like Ken Calvert would rather kowtow to Big Pharma than help seniors put money back in their pockets. Calvert will always side with Big Pharma over lowering drug costs and helping seniors.”
