Calvert Votes Against Resources for Domestic Abuse Survivors

Last week, Ken Calvert voted against critical resources for survivors of domestic abuse — yet another reminder of his decades-long record of attacking women’s safety, health, and economic security.

For more than thirty years in Washington, Calvert has sided with extremists over women and families, including:

  • Voting repeatedly against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act – denying funding for domestic violence shelters, crisis hotlines, and legal protections for survivors.
  • Voting against the Women’s Health Protection Act – blocking legislation that safeguards the right to reproductive health care nationwide.
  • Voting for the Big, Ugly Law that cuts funding for maternal health, cancer screenings, contraception access, and reproductive protections.
  • Supporting multiple extreme anti-abortion bills – including measures that criminalize doctors, block reproductive care for military service members, and even allow child rapists to sue providers.

These callous votes make clear that Calvert isn’t just out of touch — he is actively working to roll back protections for women and strip away their freedoms.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Ken Calvert has spent his career voting against women’s health, safety, and equality. From domestic abuse survivors to victims of sexual violence to women simply seeking access to health care, Calvert has turned his back time and time again. Voters will remember his record of cruelty and extremism next November.
