Malliotakis Refuses to Answer Simple Question…Again
Last Thursday, President Trump suggested that ingesting disinfectant may kill COVID-19. What followed was an uptick in calls to NYC’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene within hours of the press conference, with callers asking “specifically about exposure to Lysol, 10 cases specifically about bleach and 11 cases about exposures to other household cleaners.”
Trump’s comments have been widely refuted by medical health professionals, elected officials, the maker of Lysol, Clorox, and candidates alike.
But not Washington’s handpicked candidate Nicole Malliotakis.
When asked by local reporters if it was “dangerous” to suggest ingesting disinfectant, the career politician declined to comment.
She’s been doing that a lot lately.
In refusing to answer, Malliotakis, who never really stands for anything, is again following the party and ignoring medical professionals and the health and well-being of people she seeks to represent.
If Malliotakis has time to promote White House internships, she certainly has time to honestly answer easy questions about something as dangerous as ingesting household cleaner.
We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: leaders lead, and when given the opportunity to steer folks in the right direction, Malliotakis failed…again.
“Everyone can agree ingesting disinfectant is dangerous, but not Nicole Malliotakis. If Malliotakis can’t be honest when the questions are this simple, how can voters trust her to stand for them in crisis,” said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett.
