Carl Marlinga Added to DCCC’s Coveted ‘Red to Blue’ Program

Carl Marlinga will flip MI-10 and help take back the House majority

Today, the DCCC announced that Carl Marlinga has been added to its highly competitive ‘Red to Blue’ program, signaling that the DCCC is invested in providing Carl Marlinga, a top-tier candidate, with the support needed to continue building a winning campaign as he runs for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District.

“John James is a MAGA extremist who puts his dangerous agenda ahead of his constituents. He has compared abortion to ‘genocide’ and has a plan to gut Social Security and Medicare. While James wants to send women and doctors to jail, Carl Marlinga spent his career making Michigan safer. As a former prosecutor and judge, Carl will prosecute the case against James and help us flip the House in November,” said DCCC Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene.

As a lifelong Macomb County resident, Carl Marlinga served his community for nearly 40 years as the Macomb County Prosecutor, as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, and most recently as a judge. He’s spent his career upholding the rule of law, sending countless criminals to jail in order to keep communities safe, and protecting people’s fundamental rights. Carl has been widely recognized for his work to crack down on white collar crime and protect domestic abuse victims.

Last cycle, Carl came within less than half a point of victory, losing to James by only 1,600 votes — despite being outspent 8:1. In a presidential year with a motivated base, this is a district that leans Democratic and with higher name ID and more resources, Carl is in a position to win this November.

Red to Blue is a highly competitive and battle-tested DCCC program that arms top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue building winning campaigns. Additionally, through Red to Blue the DCCC provides strategic guidance, staff resources, candidate trainings, and more.
