| On Election Day, Alaska voters have a clear choice between Bill Hill, an independent voice for working people and Nick Begich, a multimillionaire Epstein-class elite who went to Washington to serve his party bosses, billionaires, and himself.
Refresh your memory on Begich’s record of making life harder and more expensive for Alaskans:
- Around 1 in 3 Alaskans rely on Medicaid, and more than 38,000 households are on SNAP benefits, yet Nick Begich said he had “no doubt” about cutting more than a trillion dollars from both programs to give tax breaks to the top 1% – while personally profiting from those policies himself.
- He voted to drive up insurance costs for ACA marketplace enrollees, leaving many families in Alaska paying more each month or forgoing coverage entirely, when health care rates were already the highest in the nation.
- He has called the Big, Ugly Bill a “transformative victory” and “a great bill for Alaska.”
- Begich has faithfully supported Trump’s tariffs and reckless economic policies having an outsized impact on Alaskan businesses and industries – from fishing, mining, and seafood to travel and tourism.
- He promised to lower gas prices. Instead, he has voted six times to rubber stamp the Iran War as Alaskan gas climbed above $5 a gallon and even $26 in rural parts of the state. The war has already cost taxpayers $47 billion and American families at least $1,200 each — while higher fuel costs squeeze the Alaskan fishing industry and threaten an energy crisis.
- Nick Begich came to Congress promising, “I am not a Representative who forgets where they came from or who they represent.” What Alaskans have gotten instead is a congressman who flies home on the rare occasion only to sell unpopular votes, duck protesters, refuse to hold town halls, and hide out in his suit and office in D.C. when constituents demand answers.
STATE OF THE RACE: Nick Begich dramatically underperformed Donald Trump in 2024, winning by just 2.5 points in a state Trump carried by 13. Now, national race raters have shifted this race in Bill’s direction, and two recent polls show a razor-tight race — including one with Hill trailing by just a single point. While Begich has relied on Washington Republicans and party machinery, Hill has crisscrossed Alaska traveling tens of thousands of miles to meet voters where they are. Even Republican efforts to boost a convicted felon on the ballot haven’t stopped Hill’s momentum. What Republicans assumed would be a safe seat has become one of the most unexpected and competitive races in the country.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Nick Begich thought he could coast to re-election, but instead he’s fighting for his political life against Bill Hill – a fisherman, educator, and working-class Alaskan who’s spent this campaign traveling every corner of the state. While Begich has been busy selling out Alaskans to bankroll billionaire tax breaks and rubber-stamp Trump’s costly agenda, Bill Hill has built a grassroots coalition that crosses party lines and is giving Republicans a serious scare. Alaska voters are tired of being taken for granted by out-of-touch Washington politicians, and tonight, they’re poised to deliver one of the biggest upsets of the election.” |
