CATCH UP QUICK: On Election Day, CA-22 Will Elect Randy Villegas

On Election Day, voters in California’s 22nd Congressional District will decide between Randy Villegas, a son of the Central Valley who has made lowering costs and protecting health care central to his campaign, and David Valadao, who has sold them out on health care, costs, and immigration to stand with Donald Trump and the corporate interests backing his campaign.

REFRESH YOUR MEMORY: THE CASE AGAINST DAVID VALADAO

STATE OF THE RACE: CA-22 is one of the most closely watched House races in the country. Polls show Randy leading Valadao by 4 points, he has repeatedly outraised the Republican incumbent, and Valadao had his worst primary performance of all-time – barely breaking 40%. Valadao lost reelection in 2018 after his vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act became a central issue in the campaign. Even Republican strategists agree Valadao is in “deep trouble.”

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“David Valadao promised to protect Central Valley families’ health care, then was the deciding vote to gut Medi-Cal. He backed Trump’s tariffs as costs climbed for Valley farmers and working families, and failed to stand up for his community when immigration raids disrupted their livelihoods. Now, he’s facing voters with that record. Randy Villegas has built a winning campaign focused on the issues that matter and delivering real representation for the Central Valley. With Election Day here, CA-22 voters are ready to turn the page.”
