CATCH UP QUICK: On Election Day, CA-48 Will Elect Marni von Wilpert

Refresh your memory on Jim Desmond’s record: 

• IRAN WAR: Desmond has repeatedly backed the reckless war-of-choice, saying “I support” it and “wars are messy.” And as California gas prices surged over $6 per gallon, Desmond dismissed the financial strain on families as “no pain, no gain,” declaring “President Trump is right.”
• HEALTH CARE: After Republicans ripped away health care from 32,000 CA-48 residents, Desmond voted against using county funds to prevent local service cuts and again dismissed families’ pain as “politically-generated mania and hysteria,” insisting “the sky is not falling.”
• CORRUPTION: MAGA Jim Desmond regularly flies himself to campaign events in a private plane he bought from two longtime donors, a couple who also happen to be developers pursuing land deals on property Desmond is responsible for overseeing.

STATE OF THE RACE: Following Proposition 50, CA-48 is one of the most competitive pick up opportunities to retake the House majority. It was recently ranked #3 on National Journal’s Power Rankings of districts most likely to flip, is a district Vice President Harris carried by 3 points, and boasts a Democratic spending advantage that “dwarfs” Republicans.
