CATCH UP QUICK: Relive Scott Perry’s Most Extreme Positions Ahead of Tonight’s PA-10 Debate (There Are Many)

Tonight, Scott Perry will take the debate stage for the final time before his 30 year political career is put to bed.

It’s hard to keep track of all the extreme positions Perry has taken while in office. From his intimate involvement in January 6th, to his comments disparaging veterans, Perry has a knack for making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

So here’s a helpful refresher on Perry’s most extreme positions ahead of the ABC27 debate:

CATCH UP QUICK:

1. Perry called for cutting Social Security and raising the retirement age (he put his plan on his own website). Don’t just take our word for it: WGAL’s Get the Facts: Ad Watch series confirms that’s the truth. Their verdict: “Yes, that’s true.”

2. Perry disparaged veterans and servicemembers who disagree with his politics. He was caught on audio accusing them of “hating the military” and saying they only serve to “get the credential and then they run for office.” Perry’s extreme rhetoric matches his extreme voting record: he voted against the bipartisan PACT Act which provides health care to veterans exposed to toxic substances during their service, and against overwhelmingly bipartisan legislation to help house homeless veterans.

3. Perry is a staunch supporter of the war in Iran that is spiking prices – and told Central Pennsylvanians to just “be patient.” That’s right: After voting repeatedly to continue to war, Perry’s message to his constituents paying record high diesel prices is to just… hang in there.

4. Perry has made it his mission to make health care as expensive and as hard to access as possible. He said lowering health care costs by extending the ACA tax credits would be a “colossal mistake,” and he cast a decisive vote for the historic health care cuts in the One Big Beautiful Bill. Perry actually advocated for even “more substantial cuts to Medicaid” than the cuts that were already the largest made to Medicaid in history.

5. Perry has voted to explode the national deficit. Perry claims to be a deficit hawk, but voted to balloon the federal deficit by $3.4 trillion to give tax breaks to billionaires and campaign donors.

6. Perry backs a nationwide abortion ban. Perry co-sponsored a law that bans all abortions, with no exceptions. He even supports legislation that would endanger IVF and championed an effort to block the military from reimbursing travel expenses for service members seeking reproductive care.

7. Perry was intimately involved in the deadly January 6th attack on the Capitol. Perry played a “direct role” in the events of January 6th, voted against honoring the law enforcement who put their lives on the line, sought a pardon for his involvement, and refused to cooperate with an investigation.
