Another week has come and gone, and vulnerable Congressman Tom Kean Jr. is still M.I.A. Meanwhile, the brutal press coverage continues to pile up:
POLITICO reports that Republicans “might have made Bennett’s case for her” when they lit $650K on fire with super PAC ads pointing out that she is a commonsense candidate.
And Bloomberg reported that New Jersey voters are now seeing advertisements reminding them that Kean Jr. has traded stocks while missing votes in Washington.
Catch up on the headlines for yourself…
When Rebecca Bennett won the Democratic nomination to take on Rep. Tom Kean Jr. (R-N.J.) Tuesday night, she congratulated Republicans for “lighting $650,000 on fire.”
That’s roughly what “Real Change PAC” — a new super PAC with ties to Republican firms — spent to portray Bennett as less left-wing than her primary rivals, highlighting that she didn’t call for abolishing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Maybe she should consider it an in-kind contribution. While those ads were no doubt targeted to programs watched by Democratic primary voters, the message will likely bolster Bennett’s centrist message in the general election…
The rest of the world is discovering what we in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District already knew – Tom Kean Jr. is the Invisible Man.
Here in the 7th Congressional District, Kean has been missing in action for much of his time in the House of Representatives.
The elder Kean is a genial man who enjoys engaging with the public because he knows it is a core responsibility of public service […] The apple has fallen far from the tree.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is launching its first general election attack ad against Rep. Tom Kean (R-N.J.) on Friday, targeting him for trading stocks while missing votes in Washington.
The release of the ad, shared first with Bloomberg Government, coincides with the three-month mark since Kean has voted in the House.
