In case you missed it, Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers refused to promise that she’d protect Social Security when asked at a town hall in her district. After McMorris Rodgers helped push through the GOP Tax Scam that will raise the deficit, setting the stage for cuts to Social Security, her constituents deserve to know where she stands.
Guest: Are you in favor of privatizing Social Security?
CMR: I think that is something that, uh. President Trump has taken social security off the table right now. And my thought on Social Security is that it’s going to take Republicans and Democrats coming together. That, until we do that and say, “We’re going to come together, on what the next steps are,” that it will always be a political hot potato. So, okay.
Guest: But what is your view on stance on privatizing and vouchering it?
CMR: I am committed to protecting Social Security.
Guest: As it is or vouchering?
CMR: Well, making sure that those that are current on Social Security and near Social Security have the confidence. They’ve paid into it and they need to be protected.
Guest: So, you’d grandfather us in, but …
