As families in Alabama are coping with the painful blow to reproductive care from the state Supreme Court’s latest ruling, Republican David Valadao has kept quiet on his own extreme voting record.
It’s no wonder why. Valadao co-sponsored legislation that would have restricted access to IVF nationwide – after signing an amicus brief to the Supreme Court asking them to overturn Roe v. Wade and voting against the Women’s Health Protection Act.
The Valadao-backed Life at Conception Act would impose similar restrictions on IVF and fertility treatments as the Alabama Supreme Court ruling – and ban abortion nationwide without exceptions in cases of rape or incest.
Californians deserve to know: why did Valadao sponsor efforts to outlaw reproductive care AND fertility care like IVF?
DCCC Spokesperson Dan Gottlieb:
“The Alabama Supreme Court decision threatening IVF is the latest effort by right-wing extremists to chip away at women’s constitutional freedoms and deny them access to essential reproductive care. Time and again, David Valadao has refused to protect the freedoms of California women, no matter how aggressive the attacks – and voters will hold him accountable for it this November.” |
