DCCC Chairman Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney issued the following statement on the Supreme Court of the United States’ ruling on Texas’s radical abortion ban:
“Today’s decision by the Supreme Court to allow challenges to Texas’s radical, near-total abortion ban is not enough. Nothing can erase the damage the Court has already done by their refusal to stop this brutal abortion ban in its tracks, and with every day the Texas ban stays in place, patients continue to suffer. For one hundred days, Texas women have been forced to continue their pregnancies against their will or flee the state in search of care. A future where abortion is impossible is the future House Republicans have worked so hard for — and for Texans, it is their terrifying daily reality.
“The Supreme Court has made it clear that Roe v. Wade is in danger and safe, legal abortion hangs in the balance. A woman’s very right to her own body, her own life, and her own future is at the ballot box in 2022, and House Democrats will be sounding that alarm from now until November.”###
