Chestnuthill Township Constituent Wonders: “Can Bresnahan Relate to Constituents?”

Debra from Chestnuthill Township wrote into the Pocono Record with a very good question: Can corrupt stock-trading Congressman Rob Bresnahan actually relate to his constituents?

After all, Bresnahan – who campaigned on a pledge to ban congressional stock trading – has made more than 600+ trades worth millions of dollars since coming to office, and his trades have coincided with votes he has taken that rip away health care and food assistance from his own community.

  • Republican Rob Bresnahan represents Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District, which includes large parts of Monroe and Luzerne counties and all of Wayne, Lackawanna and Pike.
  • Can he even relate to folks who live in those counties?
  • Mr. Bresnahan is a millionaire who inherited the family construction business. While campaigning he said he would support a ban on congressional stock trading, however during his first year it has been reported he made over 600 trades. He said his financial advisor made the trades, not him.
  • Which leads me to, he voted on legislation that would have a direct impact on his business. Trades were made while he pushed for data centers. (Politico)
  • GOP Rob Bresnahan voted for the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” Just one example, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities there were nearly $187 billion in cuts to SNAP which takes away food assistance from millions of low income to purchase food (mostly children and seniors). In some states it ends entirely.
