Chuck Edwards Sells Out Western North Carolina’s Helene Relief Funding, Bends the Knee to Party Bosses

Edwards refused to fight for Hurricane Helene Relief in the latest round of proposed government spending

As Republicans in D.C. prepare to rubber-stamp nearly $70 billion for their war of choice in Iran, Chuck Edwards is hanging Western North Carolina out to dry and refusing to fight for Hurricane Helene recovery funding.

North Carolina has still only received a fraction of the $60 billion needed to repair the damages from Hurricane Helene. Last month, Governor Stein called for Chuck Edwards and his fellow North Carolina Republicans to fight for $10 billion in Helene recovery money in the latest D.C. funding proposal.

Chuck Edwards said no.

Even as his Republican colleague bucked party extremists and pledged not to support the $70 billion request without Helene funding, Chuck Edwards chose D.C. over the people of NC-11.

DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus:
“Chuck Edwards is a coward. He has sold out Western North Carolina at every opportunity to please his extremist bosses in Washington. Western North Carolina voters are going to show do-nothing-Chuck the door this November and elect Jamie Ager, a fighter who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and get the job done.”
