After Claiming Otherwise, Corrupt Carlos Admits He Failed to Hire Contact Tracers in Miami-Dade

Corrupt Carlos’ Administration Previously Claimed 200 Tracers Were Hired in Miami-Dade

In May, Corrupt Carlos Giménez promised to hire between 800-1,000 contact tracers to stop the spike of COVID-19 cases. Yesterday, unable to blame Governor DeSantis for the delay any longer, he admitted he’d hired ZERO.

This comes after Corrupt Carlos claimed that they were done waiting for Governor DeSantis to help and that he would hire his own tracers.

Then Giménez started to change his tune. Last week, he tried to throw DeSantis under the bus, blaming Miami-Dade’s lack of contact tracers on the state, claiming contact tracing was “entirely under their control.”

But at a press conference with the mayor sitting right beside him yesterday, the Governor poured cold water on that theory: “we want the county health departments to be involved in this, working with their local leadership, that’s how they’ve been doing it the whole time.” He also went on to say that apparently Corrupt Carlos told the Governor he’d invested in tracing.

When later asked about DeSantis’ response, instead of jumping to action, Corrupt Carlos dug in his heals even more, saying: “I’m going to let that process ride out.”

“That press conference was an embarrassment,” said DCCC Spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer. “After weeks of casting around for blame, this press conference was a sobering reminder that Corrupt Carlos’ response to the pandemic has been utterly incompetent as he waffles on policies, points fingers, and lies to his constituents. Miami Dade deserves better.”
