Weld County health department “no longer allowed to post about COVID on social media” after Republican commissioners banned it
Weld County’s health department “will no longer publish information about COVID-19 on social media following pushback” from county commissioners — a move that has won the support of at least one Republican running for Congress in CO-08.
Earlier this month Lori Saine, commissioner in Weld County and “Colorado’s nastiest, most clueless politician,” had a meltdown on live radio after the Weld County Government Facebook page posted an infographic about getting vaccinated against COVID-19 before the holidays. Now, Colorado Sun reports that commissioners like Saine have pledged to “no longer approve Facebook posts about vaccination against the disease” — a decision that could put the lives of Coloradans at risk.
Do Janifer Kulmann and former commissioner Barbara Kirkmeyer support public health, or do they agree with their fellow Colorado Republicans that the government should censor medical information about life-saving vaccines?
“Government censorship of accurate medical information, like when and where a person can get the COVID-19 vaccine, could quite literally be a matter of life or death,” said DCCC spokesperson Helen Kalla. “This stunt by Colorado Republicans to ban social media posts about the pandemic isn’t just embarrassing, it’s dangerous. Voters in CO-08 deserve to know where the Republican candidates stand.”
