Comstock Has Short Memory on Federal Pay Freeze

Congresswoman Barbara Comstock is taking a victory lap on a handshake agreement, but she has a short memory on this federal pay freeze.

President Trump first proposed the pay freeze back in February, yet Comstock’s own timeline in her press release says that she only began working on it in August.

That may explain why in July, the House passed and Comstock voted for a budget that made no mention of the pay raise, “effectively endorsing the pay freeze that Trump originally proposed in February,” according to the Washington Post, and “would allow Trump’s pay freeze to take effect,” according to Roll Call.

Just last week, the House and Senate passed and the president signed a spending bill funding the government through December that did not address the federal pay freeze.

Congress is not in session for the next five weeks.

“As always, it’s nice of Congresswoman Comstock and her partisan allies to use an upcoming election as motivation to wake up and talk about solutions for a problem that their party created months ago.” – DCCC Spokesperson Jacob Peters
