Yesterday, Northern Virginia Congresswoman Barbara Comstock heaped praise on the Mammovan program, which receives support from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer foundation to offer mobile one-stop breast cancer screening to local communities.
Ironically, following a controversy stirred up by the extreme right wing of her party in July, Comstock had to hustle onto the House floor to remove her name from co-sponsorship of a bill that would raise millions for Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer foundation to fund breast cancer research.
“Given that Congresswoman Comstock cynically removed her name from a breast cancer research funding bill that would benefit the Susan G. Komen foundation, it’s curious that she is now praising programs supported by the very same foundation,” said Meredith Kelly of the DCCC. “Will she again have to flip flop on her support of women’s health initiatives by reversing her endorsement of the Mammovan and its critical local screening program?”
