Congressional Democrats Cut Taxes for Middle Class Latino Families

In interviews with El Diario, the largest Spanish language newspaper in the Northeast and La Opinión, the largest Spanish language newspaper in the United States, Congressional Hispanic Caucus Chair Rep. Raul Ruiz called out Republicans for voting against the largest reduction of childhood poverty in decades.

Rep. Raul Ruiz explained to La Opinión how every Republican in Congress tried to block a tax cut that would benefit millions of Latinos:

“Democrats and Republicans focus on different things; Republicans want to give money to millionaires,” he said. “[They] think we should be grateful for the scraps left on the table… it ‘s simply not the case.”

In an another interview with El Diario, Congressman Ruiz spoke about the benefits Latino families are already receiving through the American Rescue Plan which includes the Biden middle class tax cut:

“The economic help… to fundamentally protect jobs and reopen schools are a part of the American Rescue Plan.”
