Congressman Frank Guinta Letter to Senator Kelly Ayotte Re: SCOTUS Nomination

Congressman Frank Guinta seems to have had a very difficult time finding his voice to express outrage for the unprecedented obstructionism for Merrick Garland’s nomination to the Supreme Court in the Senate. In order to help Congressman Guinta find the courage and strength to call on Senator Kelly Ayotte, we at the DCCC thought we would be helpful and draft a sample letter for them. All Congressman Guinta has to do is print this out, sign it, and mail it up the street to Senator Ayotte’s office.

Senator Kelly Ayotte

144 Russell Senate Office Building

Washington, D.C. 20510

Senator Ayotte,

I am writing you today to formally ask that you drop your opposition to acknowledging the existence of Merrick Garland, President Obama’s nominee to the Supreme Court. The longer you and your colleagues in the Senate refuse to vote, hold a hearing, meet with, or even confirm Garland exists, the more ridiculous you look – and by extension, you make the rest of us New Hampshire Republicans look petty.

Look, I get it. You want to look like a conservative champion. You want to look like you are standing up to Obama. You want our next president, Donald J. Trump, to pick the next Justice (Omorosa?), but there will be plenty of time for that. Granite Staters see what you are doing and they don’t like it. The polling could not be more clear – people hate this tactic.

You and I both spend at least 75% of our days screaming about the Constitution this and the Constitution that, but this is actually a place where the Constitution is clear and we have chosen to stick our fingers in our ears, close our eyes, and say lalalalalalalalalalala.

You may not care about your long-term election prospects, but with Trump at the top of the ticket, I am certainly very concerned. So, consider this my official statement of distance from you and this craziness. If you see me in the Capitol, just keep walking. We don’t know each other.

You’re killing me, smalls.
