Congressman Steve Southerland to Gwen Graham: “Math Is Hard”

Just moments after Congressman Steve Southerland tried to rehabilitate his tattered standing with North Florida women by holding a “Women For Southerland” rally, here’s what his campaign tweeted about Gwen Graham: “Math Is Hard.”

Today, Emily Bittner of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee – a member of her high school math team – issued the following statement:

“Congressman Steve Southerland can’t seem to open his mouth without insulting women and revealing how out-of-touch his Washington Way is with North Florida,” said Emily Bittner of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “After Congressman Southerland claimed his $174,000 taxpayer-funded salary wasn’t big enough, he’s the last person who should be demeaning women by claiming that math is too hard for us.”

Previously, Congressman Southerland was caught excluding women from  his fundraiser and policy discussion, lied about his vote opposing  the Violence Against Women Act, and defended his vote against VAWA with his infamous “lingerie-shower” comment.
