COVER-UP: House Republicans Vote to Protect Critical Jan. 6th Witness and White Nationalist Steve Bannon

House GOP’s extreme vote serves as their latest attempt to undermine bipartisan Select Committee

“All hell is going to break loose tomorrow.”

That’s what white nationalist and key witness Steve Bannon said on his far-right podcast just hours before a violent mob stormed the U.S. Capitol during the deadly January 6th insurrection. But extremist House Republicans would rather protect Donald Trump’s crony than get the truth about his involvement in the Capitol siege.

Instead of holding Bannon accountable, Kevin McCarthy and his caucus chose to protect him after many House Republicans joined Bannon on his fringe podcast to fan the flames of dangerous, right-wing conspiracies and spread disinformation about the 2020 election and COVID-19.

After nonsensically trying to delegitimize the select committee, McCarthy has made it clear that House Republicans would rather engage in a cover-up of the deadliest attack on the Capitol in two centuries than pursue the truth.

American voters deserve to know: why are House Republicans covering for a dangerous goon who has critical information about the events that directly led up to the January 6th insurrection?

DCCC spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre

“House Republicans’ latest vote is a shameful and embarrassing attempt to cover up the truth behind the deadly January 6th insurrection. If McCarthy and his caucus are too afraid to stand up to a far-right podcaster who spews racist rhetoric and incites attacks on American democracy, then they have absolutely no business serving in the halls of Congress.”
