As COVID-19 Death Toll Rises, Corrupt Carlos Continues Failing Pandemic Response

This morning, Florida reported nearly 9,000 new cases of COVID-19. Corrupt Carlos Giménez still refuses to respond to this pandemic with decisive action.

As recently as last week, Giménez said he doesn’t view rising cases as “concerning,” and perfectly recited Vice President Pence’s talking points that blame any increase in cases on increased testing.

The Mayor also recently argued that Miami-Dade had “flattened the curve” even as Floridians continue to test positive for the virus.

These comments come as a new study shows 1.75 million Floridians’ health care is at risk in the middle of this global pandemic thanks to Republicans’ lawsuit to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

“As COVID-19 cases continue to rise, Miami-Dade deserves better than the hearty case of denial Corrupt Carlos Giménez has brought to this pandemic,” said DCCC Spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer. “It must be nice to live in Giménez’s reality where the county has flattened the curve, Florida’s on the mend, and no one is worried about losing their health care, but the rest of us live in the real world. This virus is continuing to take lives and it won’t stop unless people like Giménez start treating this pandemic with the seriousness it requires.”
