With COVID Ravaging Virginia, Bob Good Reiterates Support for Predatory Insurance Plans

Yesterday, Bob Good reminded every Virginian that he’ll put corporate interests before Virginia patients when he highlighted his support for junk insurance plans that could bankrupt families and deny coverage to Virginians with pre-existing conditions. Good praised the 2017 executive order that demanded an expansion of these “junk plans.”

These junk plans can discriminate against pre-existing conditions, fail to cover prescription drug costs, emergency services, and maternity care, and impose lifetime and annual caps on insurance coverage – allowing them to abandon patients when they need coverage the most. The executive order Good praised is projected to increase premiums by 18% for all marketplace patients and increase the number of underinsured Americans by nearly 3 million.

But according to Bob Good, this action that spiked costs and cut coverage for patients is just “common sense.”

As a reminder, Bob Good is openly running on fully repealing the Affordable Care Act, even during the global pandemic.

“As Virginians continue to suffer through a global pandemic, Bob Good is cheering on an executive order that can bankrupt families, deny coverage for folks with pre-existing conditions like COVID, asthma, and diabetes, and force people to pay exorbitant out of pocket costs,” said DCCC Spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer. “Good reminded us that he’s more focused on pursuing his dangerous agenda than focusing on the issues that matter most to Virginians.”
