Curbelo, Diaz-Balart still waiting for Washington Republicans to tell them how to vote

Ros-Lehtinen’s opposition to AHCA leaves Curbelo and Diaz-Balart isolated on the side of their party’s leadership

If there was ever a question, today made it all the more clear how out of step Congressmen Carlos Curbelo and Mario Diaz-Balart are with South Florida families. Just ask Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen who said this morning that the Republican health care repeal bill had “the potential to severely harm the health and lives of people in South Florida.”

But where are Congressmen Curbelo and Diaz-Balart on this bill that would slap an age tax on older South Floridians, send premiums through the roof, and strip around 600,000 of their own constituents of health insurance just because they have a pre-existing condition? Waiting on their party’s leadership to tell them how to vote.

“Congressmen Curbelo and Diaz-Balart have refused to listen to their constituents who would lose coverage because of this reckless bill and now it’s clear they’re willing to ignore their fellow Miami Republican,” said Cole Leiter, DCCC spokesperson. “That division shows exactly where Curbelo and Diaz-Balart stand: in lockstep with President Donald Trump and their party’s leadership, not with the communities they claims to represent.”
