Damage Already Done: Valadao Can’t Distance Himself from Vote to Gut Medicaid

As Senate Republicans rush through their version of the GOP Tax Scam, David Valadao is doing the same old song and dance, bluffing to take a stand, saying: “I will not support a final reconciliation bill that makes harmful cuts to Medicaid.”

Sound familiar? He said the same thing before — and he lied.

Let’s recap on the hypocrisy: 

• Valadao promised not to touch Medicaid, and sent four separate letters expressing “concern” over Medicaid and clean energy cuts.
• Then he cast the deciding vote for the GOP’s Tax Scam – ripping away health care from over 65,000 people and gutting food assistance for more than 60,000 households in his district.
• Afterward? Full-blown damage control. More meaningless letters and meetings. All begging congressional leadership to clean up the mess he made.

Now, he’s claiming he won’t do it again. But even top House GOP aides forecast he will “roll over and vote” for the Big, Ugly Bill — too scared of D.C. party bosses to protect Californians’ health care.

Remember: Valadao voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act – threatening health care for millions. That vote cost him his seat in 2018.

“David Valadao doesn’t fight for Californians – he sells out their health care, lies to their faces, then tries to cover his tracks. We all know the truth: when it’s crunch time, Valadao caves. It’s gutless, it’s dishonest, and next November, it will cost him his seat – again.”
