Vulnerable Congressman Darrell Issa, what a guy. As Issa desperately attempts to throw mud in his tight congressional race, voters deserve to be reminded of Issa’s real record – and we’re not just talking about his unrelenting support for Donald Trump.
“Darrell Issa making dirty personal attacks against his opponent is awfully rich,” said Barb Solish of the DCCC. “Issa can’t hide from his own record of disrespecting first responders, suspected arson, alleged grand theft auto, and more.”
Here are some of his greatest hits:
- Issa called the September 11th terrorist attacks “simply” a plane crash…and then voted against the Zadroga Act, which provided health care to 9/11 first responders.
- That’s not the first time Issa disregarded and disrespected first responders. Issa was suspected of burning down his own factory for insurance money and had the gall to blame firefighters for letting it spread.
- Issa lied about his military service record. He said he received the “highest possible” ratings in the Army, but he actually received unsatisfactory conduct ratings and was transferred.
- Issa doesn’t pack light: he pleaded guilty to having an unregistered firearm and served probation after a police officer found a pistol, tear-gas gun, and ammunition in his car.
- And Issa isn’t afraid to use what he’s packing: A former employee accused Issa of threatening him with a gun while firing him in order to intimidate him.
- Issa was charged with grand theft auto
- Issa is well known for his political witch hunts that cost taxpayers up to $25 million.
- At the helm of another committee, Issa wouldn’t let even one woman speak…during a hearing about access to birth control.
- He even advocated for a government shutdown despite the dramatic effect Republican shutdowns have cost veterans, seniors, and San Diego businesses.
