Despite Trump’s sweeping tariffs costing San Diego households up to $2,400 more per year, Issa still supports them
Last night, Darrell Issa voted to shield Donald Trump from Congressional oversight on his sweeping, reckless tariffs that are raising costs for Californians.
The pivotal vote comes as Trump’s tariffs have been estimated to cost San Diego area households $2,400 per year.
This isn’t the first time Issa voted to rubber stamp Trump’s sweeping tariffs. In September of 2025, Issa and Republicans voted to protect price-hiking tariffs, after doing the same thing in March of 2025. Last night’s vote would have shielded oversight until the Summer of 2026.
DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser: “Darrell Issa has been caught dead-to-rights on voting to raise costs for hardworking families. He pledged to lower the cost of living on the campaign trail but has done the exact opposite. Promises made, promises broken.”
