Three years ago when violent insurrectionists stormed the Capitol to wreak havoc on our democracy, they were encouraged by the dangerous lies and conspiracy theories David Schweikert uplifted. Schweikert spent weeks denying the 2020 presidential election results and then joined his extremist colleagues in voting against certifying the election.
In a desperate attempt to cover up the horrific details of that day, Schweikert even voted against an independent commission to investigate. When the investigation advanced despite his protest, Schweikert tried to protect Steve Bannon from testifying to hide the truth.
Every time that David Schweikert had a chance to do the right thing, he instead chose extremism and lies.
