David Valadao Tries to Deny Abortion Access for Servicewomen

Valadao supports blocking access to abortion for women in the military

In an out-of-touch display, Rep. David Valadao attempted to rip away freedoms from the women who took an oath to protect his. Right before the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, Rep. Valadao voted to deny servicewoman access to abortion.

Women in uniform already face many hurdles in accessing critical reproductive care, including financing procedures out of pocket, navigating travel costs, and receiving approval from the chain of command. Valadao tried to make receiving critical care even harder.

This is far from the first time David Valadao placed himself between women and their reproductive rights. His record is clear:

  • Every single House Republican, including David Valadao, voted against protecting access to an abortion and protecting a woman’s right to make her own decisions.

  • Valadao joined 183 other House Republicans in signing an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to overturn Roe.

  • Valadao is a co-sponsor of the Life at Conception Act, the federal personhood bill that would ban all abortions and certain types of birth control such as IUDs.

DCCC Spokesperson Maddy Mundy
“David Valadao’s complete lack of regard for women’s rights, including the women who risk their lives to serve our country, is reprehensible. Central Valley voters will stand up to Valadao’s radical agenda and reject his brazen attempts to rip away women’s freedoms this November.”
