DCCC Ad Highlights How John Katko Works for Washington Special Interests, Not Central New York

Ad reminds Central New Yorkers that once Katko entered office, he took special interest money and broke a promise by voting to defund Planned Parenthood four times

The DCCC released a new TV ad in NY-24 highlighting how John Katko is working for Washington special interests, not Central New York.

Case in point: On the campaign trail in 2014, Katko claimed that he backed Planned Parenthood.

But when Katko went to Washington, he took special interest money and broke his promise by voting four times with House Republicans to defund the women’s health service.

“Despite telling Central New York voters that he backed Planned Parenthood during his campaign for Congress, when John Katko got to Washington he took special interest money and broke his promise by voting with House Republicans four times to defund Planned Parenthood,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “It’s clear that John Katko is fighting for the special interests that bankroll his campaign, not Central New York.”

Script:

John Katko: Before when I was running in the campaign, I was absolutely for funding Planned Parenthood.

Announcer: John Katko let us down. Running for Congress, Katko backed Planned Parenthood.

But once in Washington, he took thousands from special interests and broke his promise. Voting with Republicans to defund Planned Parenthood four times.

Four times threatening women’s access to health care services like cancer screenings. Four times risking women’s health.

John Katko. With Washington Republicans, not us.
