Nick Freitas’ Attempts to Mislead Voters Conceal Real Record on Pre-Existing Conditions
The DCCC launched a new ad in VA-07 today, exposing Nick Freitas’ blatant lies to cover what his record shows he would do to Virginians’ health care. “Truth,” which begins airing on Richmond broadcast and cable today, highlights how Freitas’ special interest ties explain his damning health care record for Central Virginia’s voters.
Now that he’s looking to get elected, Freitas says in his ads that people with pre-existing conditions “need to be cared for and provided for by our system,” but before he was running, Nick Freitas voted to allow insurance companies to deny health care coverage for Virginians with pre-existing conditions.
And his motivations are clear. Nick Freitas pocketed thousands from the insurance industry, parroting industry talking points by doubling down on his support to repeal the Affordable Care Act which would cause 741,000 Virginians to lose their health insurance.
REMINDER: Freitas’ anti-health care votes mirror those of his supporters in Washington who are in court right now fighting to completely eliminate the Affordable Care Act, which would cut coverage for 74,000 people in VA-07 and 23 million Americans. That’s also why mega donors and Washington special interests have pledged millions to try and put him in office.
“Nick Freitas answers to Washington special interests, and now he is intentionally and unapologetically misleading voters to cover his tracks,” said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett. “The truth is, Nick Freitas has taken thousands of dollars from mega donors and dark-moneyed special interests and in turn voted to rip health care away from thousands of Central Virginians with pre-existing conditions. Freitas’ record is clear: he’s for special interests, not Central Virginians.”
