DCCC Adds CA-48 To Districts In Play As Democrats Expand Battlefield for 2026 Midterms

DCCC’s 2026 offensive target list grows to include Darrell Issa as Californians sour on Republicans’ record of broken promises and higher prices

Today, the DCCC is expanding House Democrats’ Districts in Play for the 2026 election cycle to include Darrell Issa, signaling Democrats’ readiness to reclaim the House majority by widening the battlefield and focusing on this newly vulnerable seat in California.

The DCCC’s Districts in Play are competitive districts held by vulnerable Republicans across the country that will determine the House Majority.

Issa’s addition to the DCCC’s Districts in Play sends the clear message that Democrats know California voters are souring on Issa’s wildly unpopular record of raising costs, attacking affordable health care, and hurting working families.

Statement from DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene:
“Darrell Issa is running scared because he knows his extreme record of gutting health care and driving up costs for Southern Californians will cost him his seat. While working families in Riverside and San Diego Counties have to work harder for less, Issa has spent decades in Washington looking out for one person – himself. Look no further than last week when he debated running in Texas to avoid being sent packing by the voters he has overlooked for years. Democrats are going all-in to defeat Issa and elect a leader who will finally fight for Southern Californians.”

Democrats’ consistent overperformance in election after election in 2025 – including the overwhelming passage of Proposition 50, which was backed by 71% of Latino voters across California – is further proof that we have a path to victory this cycle to unseat Issa and win CA-48.

Additionally, the DCCC has launched nominee fund pages, providing grassroots donors the ability to contribute now to the eventual Democratic nominee in Districts In Play.
