DCCC Adds David Shapiro (FL-16), Liz Watson (IN-09) & Ron DiNicola (PA-16) to Red to Blue

DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján today announced the addition of three candidates to the DCCC’s highly competitive Red to Blue program. Fifty-nine candidates have now earned a spot on Red to Blue by surpassing aggressive goals for grassroots engagement, local support, campaign organization and fundraising. Beyond their demonstrated abilities to build a winning campaign infrastructure, these candidates have strong records of service and deep ties to the communities they aim to represent.

Chairman Luján issued the following statements about the latest additions to Red to Blue:

David Shapiro (FL-16)

“A lifelong fighter for people in his community who have been hurt by predatory insurance companies and big corporations, David Shapiro’s experience helping people find common ground and solve problems shows that he’s exactly the kind of leader Washington needs right now. Working and retired people in Central Florida can count on David to put them first, unlike Republicans who voted to raise middle class families’ taxes and put Social Security and Medicare at risk.”

Liz Watson (IN-09)

“A native of Indiana, Liz has dedicated herself to standing up for working families and making sure they have a level playing field. Liz is running in Indiana’s 9th Congressional District because she was unable to stand idly by while Republicans put Hoosiers’ health care at risk and gutted worker protections. With a strong campaign operation that is grounded in Liz’s Indiana values, this is a race to closely watch.”

Ron DiNicola (PA-16)

“A Marine, veteran and Golden Glove Boxer, Ron DiNicola has never backed down from a fight. Ron has successfully fought the federal government to get health insurance and job training benefits for workers who had been laid off, and will bring that same determination to ensuring that the people of Pennsylvania’s 16th Congressional District have a voice in Congress.”

Red to Blue is a highly competitive and battle-tested DCCC program that arms top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue to run strong campaigns. Additionally, the DCCC provides strategic guidance, staff resources, candidate trainings, and more.
