Mitsch Bush Added to Battle-Tested Red to Blue Program as Democrats Expand Map Across the Country
Today, DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos announced that the DCCC added Diane Mitsch Bush to the battle-tested Red to Blue program. Diane has earned a spot on the DCCC’s Red to Blue program by surpassing aggressive goals for grassroots engagement, local support, campaign organization, and fundraising. Beyond their records of service and demonstrated ability to build a winning campaign infrastructure, Red to Blue candidates have an authentic message that connects with voters in their districts, and deep ties to the diverse communities they aim to serve.
Nationally, only 34 candidates have been named to the list this cycle.
“Right now, Colorado families are dealing with serious public health and economic challenges and they need a representative in Washington who is ready to get to work on day one. Diane Mitsch Bush has a strong, pragmatic record of working across the aisle to get real results for her constituents and she has built a powerful grassroots campaign to bring that same focus to Congress. Unlike her opponent, Diane follows the law and is committed to lowering the cost of health care, rebuilding the economy with good-paying jobs, and protecting our public lands. I look forward to working with her to flip this seat in November,” said DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos.
Internal campaign polling shows a tight race in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District with Diane Mitsch Bush up one point against GOP nominee Lauren Boebert (43-42). Diane enjoys a 2:1 favorability rating (31-15). On the presidential level, the poll shows Donald Trump and Joe Biden tied in the district at 48-48.
About CO-03:
Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District is a large, diverse district with people of color making up nearly 22% of the population. Before incumbent Congressman Scott Tipton took office, this district had a history of electing Democrats and Tipton’s margin of victory has dwindled in recent years. As the 2018 Democratic nominee, Diane Mitsch Bush came up short here by the slimmest margin of any district in the state. With a more out-of-the-mainstream Republican nominee in Lauren Boebert, Mitsch Bush is well-positioned to consolidate Democrats, and win over independents and moderate Republicans. Unaffiliated voters make up over 40% of the electorate in this district, creating a large block of persuadable voters who could be turned off by Boebert’s extreme positions in a year when the presidential race is likely to drive up turnout.
About Red to Blue:

Additionally, through Red to Blue the DCCC provides strategic guidance, staff resources, candidate trainings and more.
