| Today, the DCCC is expanding House Democrats’ Districts in Play for the 2026 election cycle to include Florida’s 12th Congressional District, signaling Democrats’ readiness to reclaim the House majority by widening the battlefield and working to defeat Gus Bilirakis.
The DCCC’s Districts in Play are competitive districts held by vulnerable Republicans across the country that will determine the House majority.
FL-12’s addition to the DCCC’s Districts in Play sends the clear message that Democrats know Florida voters are souring on Bilirakis’ wildly unpopular record of raising costs, attacking affordable health care, and hurting working families.
“Gus Bilirakis has spent nearly 20 years in Washington cozying up to special interests and the worst extremes of his party, turning his back on the Floridians he was meant to serve. Tampa Bay voters are tired of his failed record of higher costs, cutting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, and voting for reckless tariffs and a disastrous war – all while handing tax breaks to his wealthy buddies. We’re bullish on expanding the map in Florida because Republicans’ dummymander will backfire in November,” said DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene.
