DCCC Adds Florida’s 16th Congressional District To Districts In Play As Democrats Expand Battlefield for 2026 Midterms

DCCC’s 2026 offensive target list grows to include Florida’s 16th Congressional District as Floridians sour on Republicans’ record of broken promises and higher prices

Today, the DCCC is expanding House Democrats’ Districts in Play for the 2026 election cycle to include Florida’s 16th Congressional District, signaling Democrats’ readiness to reclaim the House majority by widening the battlefield and focusing on this newly vulnerable seat in Florida.

The DCCC’s Districts in Play are competitive GOP held or open districts across the country that will determine the House Majority.

FL-16’s addition to the DCCC’s Districts in Play sends the clear message that Democrats know Florida voters are souring on Republicans’ wildly unpopular record of raising costs, attacking affordable health care, and hurting working families.

Statement from DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene:
“Floridians are fed up with Republicans’ broken promises while families struggle under skyrocketing insurance premiums, rising housing costs, and higher utility bills. Instead of delivering real solutions, Republicans are trying to rig the rules to protect their own political power. That strategy will backfire. Florida voters are ready to elect leaders who will fight to lower costs, protect working families, and put their communities ahead of the ultra-wealthy and special interests. Florida is firmly in play, and Democrats are on offense to win FL-16.”

Democrats’ consistent overperformance in election after election this cycle is further proof that we have a path to victory this cycle to win FL-16.

Additionally, the DCCC has launched nominee fund pages, providing grassroots donors the ability to contribute now to the eventual Democratic nominee in Districts In Play.
