| Today, the DCCC is expanding House Democrats’ Districts in Play for the 2026 election cycle to include Michigan’s First Congressional District, signaling Democrats’ readiness to reclaim the House majority by widening the battlefield and working to defeat Jack Bergman.
The DCCC’s Districts in Play are competitive districts held by vulnerable Republicans across the country that will determine the House Majority.
The addition of MI-01 to the DCCC’s Districts in Play sends a clear message that Democrats know Michigan voters are souring on Bergman’s wildly unpopular record of raising costs, attacking affordable health care, standing by corruption, and hurting working families.
“Jack Bergman has spent nearly ten years in office doing nothing but rubber-stamping his party’s corrupt, cost-hiking agenda. In the last two years alone, Bergman has voted to kick hundreds of thousands of Michiganders off their health insurance, threatened rural health clinics and services, and made it harder for the district’s rural communities to make a living. Michigan families are tired of Bergman’s mediocrity and billionaire-first agenda, and that’s why they’ll fire him next month,” said DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene.
Democrats’ consistent overperformance in special elections this cycle shows that we have a path to unseat Bergman and win MI-01. |
