DCCC Adds NC-03 To Districts In Play As Democrats Expand Battlefield for 2026 Midterms

DCCC’s 2026 offensive target list grows to include Greg Murphy as North Carolinians sour on Republicans’ record of broken promises and higher prices

Today, the DCCC is expanding House Democrats’ Districts in Play for the 2026 election cycle to include Greg Murphy, signaling Democrats’ readiness to reclaim the House majority by widening the battlefield and focusing on this newly vulnerable seat in North Carolina.

The DCCC’s Districts in Play are competitive districts held by vulnerable Republicans across the country that will determine the House Majority.

Greg Murphy’s addition to the DCCC’s Districts in Play sends the clear message that Democrats know North Carolina voters are souring on Greg Murphy’s wildly unpopular record of raising costs, attacking affordable health care, and hurting working families.

Statement from DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene:
“In a desperate attempt from a flailing White House and House Republicans to subvert the will of voters, North Carolina Republicans have put Greg Murphy’s seat on the chopping block. Murphy has spent years putting special interests over North Carolinians and now, Republicans have endangered him in a district he’s even more disconnected from. Democrats will bring the fight directly to them and send Greg Murphy packing.”

Democrats’ consistent overperformance in election after election in 2025 is further proof that we have a path to victory this cycle to unseat Greg Murphy and win NC-03.

Additionally, the DCCC has launched nominee fund pages, providing grassroots donors the ability to contribute now to the eventual Democratic nominee in Districts In Play.
