| Today, the DCCC is expanding House Democrats’ Districts in Play for the 2026 election cycle to include Tennessee’s Ninth Congressional District, signaling Democrats’ readiness to reclaim the House majority by widening the battlefield and working to win this open seat.
The DCCC’s Districts in Play are competitive districts held by vulnerable Republicans and competitive open seats across the country that will determine the House majority.
TN-09’s addition to the DCCC’s Districts in Play sends the clear message that Democrats know Tennessee voters are souring on D.C. Republicans’ wildly unpopular record of raising costs, attacking affordable health care, and hurting working families.
“Tennesseans are paying more for everything from gas to groceries because of the harmful policies being put in place by D.C. Republicans. The Volunteer State deserves a fighter in Congress who will actually put families first and invest here at home, not more corrupt politicians who put special interests ahead of the people. Tennesseans are ready for change and that’s exactly why Democrats have a clear path to victory in this open seat in November,” said DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene.
Democrats’ consistent overperformance in special elections this cycle is further proof that we have a path to victory this year to win TN-09.
