DCCC’s 2026 offensive target list grows to include the new TX-35 as Texans sour on Republicans’ record of broken promises and higher prices
Today, the DCCC is expanding House Democrats’ Districts in Play for the 2026 election cycle to include the newly open TX-35, signaling Democrats’ readiness to reclaim the House majority by widening the battlefield and focusing on this newly vulnerable seat in Texas.
The DCCC’s Districts in Play are competitive districts held by vulnerable Republicans across the country that will determine the House Majority.
The addition of Texas’ new 35th Congressional District to the DCCC’s Districts in Play sends the clear message that Democrats know Texas voters are souring on Republicans’ wildly unpopular record of raising costs, attacking affordable health care, and hurting working families.
Statement from DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene: “Knowing their record of broken promises has turned voters against them, Republicans are attempting to save their microscopic majority by trying to diminish the power of voters of color in Texas. Democrats will not let their cynical power play go down without a fight. The DCCC will work to ensure the people of Texas’ 35th District have the representation they deserve.”
Democrats’ consistent overperformance in election after election in 2025 is further proof that we have a path to victory this cycle to win TX-35.
Additionally, the DCCC has launched nominee fund pages, providing grassroots donors the ability to contribute now to the eventual Democratic nominee in Districts In Play.
