Today, the DCCC announced that Val Hoyle (OR-04), Jamie McLeod-Skinner (OR-05), and Andrea Salinas (OR-06) have been added to its competitive ‘Red to Blue’ program, which arms top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue to develop strong campaigns and win in November.
DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw
“Now more than ever, Oregon families deserve leaders who will fight for them, not far-right extremists. This slate of Democratic candidates — Val Hoyle, Jamie McLeod-Skinner, and Andrea Salinas — are proven champions for Oregon families and will fight for a strong economy, good-paying jobs, affordable health care, and a woman’s right to choose. The DCCC looks forward to working alongside them to help ensure their victory this November.”
Learn more about our all-star Red to Blue candidates in Oregon:
- OR-04: Val Hoyle has served as Oregon’s Labor Commissioner for years, fighting to ensure workers are paid the wages and benefits they’re owed and overseeing enforcement of civil rights and housing discrimination protections. During the pandemic, Val fought to expand the Oregon Family Leave Act and ensure workers could continue to earn money part-time while retaining their unemployment benefits. As Oregon’s State House Majority Leader, Val successfully advocated for policies that help families and communities thrive. She will be an effective voice in Congress and continue to make real progress. Val is facing well-known and well-funded Republican Alek Skarlatos, who is facing an FEC complaint after funneling campaign cash to a dark money group he controls in order to fund his campaign.
- OR-05: Jamie McLeod Skinner is an emergency response coordinator, small business owner, engineer, and attorney. Jamie began her public service repairing schools and hospitals in Bosnia and Kosovo before returning to the U.S. to manage refugee resettlement programs. In 2021, Jamie led wildfire recovery efforts as Talent’s Interim City Manager, bringing in millions of dollars in aid and emergency housing. Jamie understands the challenges Oregon families are facing, and will be a fierce advocate for Oregon workers, families, and the environment in Congress. She’s facing extremist Lori Chavez-DeRemer, who backs banning abortions, repealing the Affordable Care Act, sides with election deniers, and would be a rubber stamp for the MAGA agenda.
- OR-06: Andrea Salinas has been an advocate for Oregon families her entire career and is running to make Oregon’s new 6th District blue. As a pro-choice advocate, Andrea led the fight for more accessible, affordable health care, including helping pass the nation’s most progressive reproductive health care policy that covers everybody in Oregon. And as an Oregon state Representative, she has worked to raise the minimum wage and pass the nation’s most progressive paid family leave bill. In Congress, she will fight to expand access to abortion care, tackle the climate crisis, and solve the issues that matter to families in her district and across the country. She’s facing an anti-choice, anti-climate opponent Mike Erickson who has run for office four times and lost four times. Oregon’s 6th District is a prime pick-up opportunity for Democrats.
