| Today, the DCCC unveiled five new offensive additions to House Democrats’ Districts in Play for the 2026 cycle, bringing the total number of districts to 44.
This is the second time the DCCC has expanded the offensive map in as many months. Last April, we launched our initial offensive map of 35 Districts in Play – a list that was already larger than at the start of the 2024 cycle. The first expansion was unveiled in December.
The new offensive targets are all in districts that Trump won by 13% or less, and reflect a sustained, dramatically positive political environment where Democrats are overperforming in all special elections since Trump was inaugurated, including in congressional special elections by more than 17%.
With public sentiment souring on Republicans’ handling of the economy, rising prices, and health care, and more Americans continuing to feel the harmful impacts of Republican policies such as cruel cuts to health care, allowing ACA tax credits to expire, bill-spiking cuts to energy investments and price-hiking tariffs – voters are poised to power House Democrats to the majority in November.
“Democrats are on offense, and our map reflects the fact that everyday Americans are tired of Republicans’ broken promises and ready for change in Congress,” said DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene. “Health care, housing, groceries, energy bills – they are all going up and it’s directly because of Republican policies that favor the wealthiest few while leaving hardworking families behind. Going into the midterms, Democrats have the winning message, top-tier candidates, and the public on our side, paving the way for a new Democratic House Majority under the leadership of a Speaker Hakeem Jeffries.”
