DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene was on Bloomberg’s Balance of Power this week discussing the momentum powering House Democrats in the final weeks before election day.
DelBene discussed how national GOP party bosses are abandoning Republicans in competitive races across the country, while Democrats are on offense. The conversation turned to some of the reasons and issues driving the DCCC’s push to expand the map – including the recent call for more resources to support Democrats in deep red districts that are poised to flip. DelBene highlighted Democrats’ message of lowering costs, fixing the Republican health care crisis, and ending the culture of corruption that has defined Republican rule these last two years.
See highlights from Chair DelBene’s conversation below:
“Our map has expanded, and we recently expanded our map as more and more races have come into play. People across the country [are] angry about what Republicans have done in their communities, and wanting representatives who are going to stand up for them. […] We are asking for more resources to make sure we get to every race that we can, and have those resources to get their message out.”
[…]
“[Republicans] know that they are losing. That’s why they’re moving money. They’re in triage mode, and the majority of money on the Republican side is going into defense to help try to protect seats they have.”
[…]
“We need to net three seats to take back the majority in the House, but we have 66 races across the country where we are on offense. 66 opportunities to flip seats […].”
